Edgar Escobar immigrated from Guatemala to the United States at the young age of 17. Eager to work, he took a job as a baker shortly after arriving to the U.S. After working at a few bakeries and with over 20 years of experience as a baker under his belt, he was prepared to take on more.

DEL MAR

The bakery and deli, which was originally located in Del Mar in a 4,000 sq. ft space, was a small operation with less than 30 wholesale customers. Edgar, along with his family, was able to grow the business to the point that the small Del Mar location was outgrown by 2013.

ESCONDIDO

He relocated the business to Escondido in a 10,000 sq. ft space and continued to grow. Eventually, the wholesale bakery outgrew for the second time and was rehomed to a bigger space in Poway.

POWAY

After continued success and a desire to purchase a building it led O'Brien’s to a 22,000 square foot facility in the Poway Business Park. Today, O’Brien’s Boulangerie services over 400 hotels, restaurants, and casinos in San Diego and Orange County. Edgar runs his business alongside his wife Argelia, brother Juan Carlos, two daughters Sara and Yvonne, and son Eddie Escobar. After the move we launched the Café in October 2018, O'Brien's now serves breakfast and lunch. Visit O’Brien’s to enjoy a fresh loaf of bread, pastries and desserts.
